Some GERD advice below....feel free to read or not!!!🥰 Claire is doing so well w her magic - that’s some sleight of hand - and I’m glad she’s doing hip-hop. Carson is such a good, sweet, and patient ukulele teacher to his grandmother. And June is getting big and is really showing her free spirit and her lively personality. Three amazing kids, and all seem as happy as ever w their new baby sister at home!!! As for Millie...I can just tell how sweet she is and how much of a precious mama’s girl she is (and daddy’s girl, too, of course)...and it’s so obvious how much you both love her and care for her!!! Your 4th amazing kid is a total cutie!!! Much love and happiness and good health to you all!!! Ok, so here’s my GERD advice (and yes, it’s a hard “g” like “girl” or “garden”...or “gastro-esophageal reflux disease”, aka GERD😉😘)...I’m sure you’re getting tons of advice and have probably had it up to here w all of it, so please forgive me for just sneaking in a couple of little ideas from yeeeeears of GERD experience... 1- Try giving up things like caffeine and tomato sauce and citrus and all spicy foods, too, bc anything Millie gets from Ashley can set poor little Millie off (and assuming you’re not off that stuff, already). 2- Try keeping a very detailed daily food diary w exactly what and eat/drink and at what time bc you might begin to see correlations between certain items that you eat, Ashley, and Millie’s GERD issues. 3- Can you raise up the head of her little bed there to raise her head and body up a little bit? Like if you put a rolled up towel or something under the head end of her little bed to put the whole thing on an incline by about maybe 2 inches at the top, so that her upper body is higher up than her feet. This will have her sleeping on a slight incline which can allow gravity to help keep the acid reflux from rising up into her esophagus when she’s laying down/sleeping (please see disclaimer, below!!). 4- Related to number 3...keeping her in some kind of inclined position or even in a sitting up position after she eats is also helpful w keeping everything down in her stomach, where it belongs (again...please see disclaimer, below)!!! Disclaimer - Obviously, you should follow ZERO of this advice wo talking to Millie’s doctor(s), first, especially in re the sleeping on an incline thing bc I do NOT know if that’s appropriate w such little, tiny babies!!! But you already know that, bc you’re two amazing parents!!! That’s it...normally I would never make suggestions like this bc it’s not my place or business, but I thought I would here only bc I have had a long history w my own GERD and have learned a few little tricks along the way. I never wanted my ears pierced at all. My mum is allergic to jewellery, much to her mother's dismay. As the only granddaughter for 15.5yrs, my grandmother kept pestering me to get them pierced. No way! But one day, I was at a Sunday lunch with a family from church. I looked at the daughter who was 18/19 (I was 15, almost 16). She looked so feminine with studs. Yes, it was the day when studs came into fashion, rather than traditional earrings. I was so impressed, the next day after school, I had my mum take me to get my ears pierced (with a gun, rather than the old fashioned way my grandmother told me she had hers done - ouch!) The gun was so quick & painless that I burst out into tears, releasing pent-up emotions. I was shocked how it didn't hurt. Of course, they swelled for days and needed treating to prevent infection for 7wks. My grandmother was so pleased. She insisted I only wear quality jewellery, not cheap junk. (She bought me LOTS of great, expensive dress studs after that.) I'm now 53yrs old, and to this day, I wear studs, and can't wear (& don't like) rings in my ears. I don't like little girls having pierced ears, because I saw so many kids at schools with me constantly have infected ears from junk jewellery, lack of care, them being ripped while wearing, etc. I always wear good quality (or stainless steel) studs. Yet, I once wore cheap studs for work... and the post broke & broke skin. I had to not wear anything in my ears for awhile (mere weeks?)... but my ears started to close over. That hurt to pierce them again (I just pushed my stud through the thin skin to redo the hole). That wasn't fun. So, from cheap jewellery for a work occasion, I had months of pain & treatment to get them back to normal. So, no, I'm not one who likes kids having pierced ears. I think it should be a "coming of age" think, ie a rite of passage. Again, I had mine done 2 months before my 16th birthday, albeit on impulse & before I changed my mind. I don't regret it. But I'm glad I was older... and that it was my decision. I agree with you, Dave: "wait 10yrs". Let her enjoy being a kid, and leave pierced ears for a teenage rite of passage, where she can enjoy dressing up, etc. (Sorry Claire!) |

I am roughly your age and worked hard and sacrificed many years to finish my doctorate. Immediately after that I developed a rare and excruciatingly painful nerve disease and have been fighting that for the last 7 years with some very intense times in between. I also lost my Papa, who was like a second father and sometimes we even lived in the same house, on Christmas Day a few years ago. I came to the "How it all started" video and remembered my mom sharing the Ariel video with our family a few years ago and thought, "This is THAT girl?!?" Last year I had a panic attack and grief so much that I could not attend Christmas church because of painful memories and feelings of loss. Even though church was virtual this year and our homes were separated from my sister with breast cancer for extra COVID precautions, I was able to worship and enjoy the holiday. I remember taking our then 4 year old daughter to a toy superstore here in Scotland for a bike, she did the same as yours did ie shot off round the store on the bike and came to a grinding halt when she crashed into a rather large display of toys and it came tumbling down around her !
